NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Purple Eagles fell to the defending MAAC champions Quinnipiac, 96-55, on Friday. Niagara hosted the Bobcats for Kids Day, playing in an electric atmosphere that brought in over 1,800 students from the Niagara Falls School District.

Game Recap
  • The Bobcats got off to an early lead 13-5 lead in the first quarter before Adila Gathers converted a 3-point play to bring Niagara within five point of Quinnipiac, 13-8. Quinnipiac led the Purple Eagles, 36-10, at the end of the quarter. Gathers had eight of NU's first quarter points.
  • The Purple Eagles went on a 7-0 run in the second quarter, which included five points from McIntyre, and trail the Bobcats 40-21 with a little over seven minutes to play in the first half. Quinnipiac, however, maintained a comfortable lead and was ahead 53-25 going into halftime.
  • Ally Haar sank a three late in the third quarter but Quinnipiac continued to dominate and led the Purple Eagles 85-38 at the end of the quarter.
  • Quinnipiac went on a 7-0 run to start the fourth quarter, taking a 90-38 lead over Niagara. NU answered with an 8-0 run, including two straight treys from McIntyre and a bucket from Jordan Edwards. Edwards added four more points in the fourth quarter and Kyra Grimshaw had a 3-pointer, but Niagara could not overcome Quinnipiac's lead, falling to the Bobcats, 96-55.

Eagle's Eye On…
  • Gathers led the Purple Eagles in scoring with a career-high 15 points. She also had a team-high six rebounds and two blocks.
  • McIntyre added 12 points for Niagara and Moore added nine.
  • McIntyre and Dagny Davidsdottir each recorded four rebounds and Davidsdottir led the team in steals with two.
