Eyeing their first five-game winning streak in a decade, the Niagara Purple Eagles battle the Siena Saints on the road Wednesday at 3 p.m.
 
Scene Setter
  • Niagara is currently on a four-game winning streak, picking up wins against St. Francis (PA), St. Bonaventure, Iona and Rider.
  • The four-game win streak is Niagara's longest dating back to Sept. 26-Oct. 3, 2015, when the team earned wins against Fairfield, Iona, Siena and Quinnipiac.
  • The win over Rider on Sept. 22 also marked the first time Niagara has won four straight to open the home schedule at Niagara Field since the 1988 season.
  • During their current win streak, the Purple Eagles have outscored opponents 8-1, and have outshot opponents by a 67-53 margin.
  • A win on Wednesday would give Niagara its first five-game winning streak since 2008, which included a home win at home against Syracuse and a pair of wins against Albany and North Dakota to capture the Niagara Falls Classic.   
 
Kickoff Tidbits
  • The Purple Eagles are in first place in the MAAC with six points (2-0-0).
  • Niagara earned its second consecutive MAAC win on Sept. 22 at home against Rider, 2-1.
  • Hailey Bicknell scored off a Bayley Sullivan assist, while Kelsey Araujo earned the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 71st minute. Shania van Nuland also made five saves goal for the Purple Eagles.
  • The Purple Eagles rank second in the MAAC in shots per game (15.78), and are tied for second in shutouts this season (four).
  • Ibey's four-game winning goals lead the conference and are currently tied for the fifth-most in the NCAA.
  • Ibey currently leads the team in points with 13 (four goals, two assists), the second-most across the MAAC.
  • Araujo has marked six points for the Purple Eagles (two goals, two assists). Araujo's 35 shots are the most across the MAAC, while her 3.89 shots per game are second in the conference.  
 
Across The Pitch
Siena Saints (3-5-2, 0-0-1 MAAC)
  • Since earning its first win of the season against Cornell on Sept. 3, Siena is 0-4-1 in its last five games, most recently falling to Vermont on Sept. 20, 1-0.
  • Wednesday's game will be Siena's second conference game this season, previously playing to a scoreless draw against Quinnipiac at home on Sept. 15.
  • Junior goalkeeper Taylor Dorado earned MAAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors on Sept. 17, matching the program record with her fifth such accolade.
  • Siena holds the edge in the all-time series, 13-12-4, with Niagara looking on Wednesday to earn their first win in the series since the 2015 season.
