Women's Golf In Sixth Place After Round One Of MAAC Championships

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The Niagara women's golf team completed the first round of the MAAC Championships at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course on Friday. The Purple Eagles currently sit in sixth place with a total team score of 332 (+44).

"Although we didn't play as well as we hoped, I'm pleased with the outcome," said head coach Jason Polka. "If we clean up a few big numbers over the next few rounds, I don't think we'll have a problem climbing up the leaderboard."

Sarah Godfrey led the way for the Purple Eagles, firing a 78 (+6). She is tied for 13th place.

Emily Doyle is tied for 18th place. She carded an 80 (+8) in the first 18 holes of play.

Sydney Shaw shot 85 (+13) and is in sole possession of 27th place.

Daniella Hopper is tied for 37th place after round one. She carded an 89 (+17).

The team will tee off for round two at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 21. Coverage of the final round on Sunday, April 22 will air live on ESPN3 starting at 10:00 a.m.
