Women's Basketball Falls To Manhattan

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Niagara women's basketball team dropped a tough contest to Manhattan, 82-64, on Thursday.

Game Recap
  • The Purple Eagles and the Jaspers traded baskets to start the first quarter, but Manhattan quickly took the lead. A 3-pointer from Maggie McIntyre with a little over six and a half minutes in the first put NU down by only three points, 8-5. The Jaspers went on an 8-0 run to take an 18-7 lead with a little over two minutes to play. The Purple Eagles trailed Manhattan, 24-13, at the end of the first quarter.
  • Rampado scored six straight points for the Purple Eagles in the second quarter, but Niagara trailed 31-19 with a little under five minutes left in the first half. Kharysma Bryant added four points and Jamie Sherburne sank a three to close scoring for NU in the second quarter, but the Purple Eagles still trailed the Jaspers, 36-27, going into halftime.
  • Despite five more points from Rampado and seven points from Jai Moore in the third quarter, the Jaspers maintained control, leading the Purple Eagles 59-4 at the end of the third.
  • Sherburne led the Purple Eagles with six points in the fourth quarter, including her second three of the game, but NU could not catch up to the Jaspers and Manhattan defeated the Purple Eagles, 82-64.

Inside the Numbers
  • Rampado led the Purple Eagles with 16 points and 14 rebounds to record her MAAC-leading 11th double-double of the season.
  • Bryant added 12 points, Moore had 10 and Sherburne had nine.
  • Moore led the Purple Eagles in assists with six, a career-high, and Sherburne and Bryant each had a team-high three steals.
