PHOENIX, Ariz. – In their final game of the GCU Purple Classic on Sunday, the Purple Eagles fell to Grand Canyon, 5-3.

Game Recap
- Grand Canyon got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Niagara answered quickly in the top of the third. Kendall Watkins singled to catcher, scoring Taylor Moody to tie the score, 1-1.
- The Purple Eagles took the lead in the fourth inning. Rachel Funk singled to score Timm and Moody then singled up the middle to score Gabriele and put NU up, 3-1, over the Antelopes.
- A solo homerun from GCU in the bottom of the fourth put the Antelopes down by only one run, 3-2. A three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth iced the win for Grand Canyon.
Inside the Numbers
- Timm and Gabriele led the Purple Eagles with two hits each and each had one double.
- Watkins, Funk and Moody each had one RBI.
- Sierra Bertrand (2-2) threw a complete game in the circle. She faced 29 batters in 6.0 innings pitched.
