CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Niagara softball team split its final day at the Cleveland State Dome Invitational, defeating Robert Morris, 3-0, and falling to Bowling Green, 4-0.
Game 1: Niagara 3, Robert Morris 0
- The Purple Eagles (2-2) got on the board in the top of the first inning. Kelsey Harrigan scored on a throwing error by the Colonials' shortstop to give NU a 1-0 lead.
- Jennifer Timm knocked in a solo homerun in the top of the second inning to put Niagara up, 2-0, over Robert Morris.
- The Colonials (0-1) held NU off until the top of the seventh, when Jerri Ann Orfano singled down the right field line to score Sarah Trifoso.
- Orfano and Timm led the team with two hits and one RBI each.
- Karsen Cotton (1-0) earned her first collegiate start in the circle. Cotton struck out five batters in 6.0 innings pitched.
- Sierra Bertrand replaced Cotton in the circle in the seventh inning, striking out two batters and earning a save.
Game 2: Bowling Green 4, Niagara 0
- The Purple Eagles were shutout by Bowling Green (3-0) for the second day in a row. The Falcons scored all their runs in the third inning.
- Harrigan, Timm and Kendall Watkins each recorded one hit in the game.
- Bertrand (1-1) got the start in the circle. She struck out three batters in 2.0 innings pitched. Emily Johnston replaced Bertrand in the third innings. She fanned five batters in 4.0 innings pitched.
