The Niagara men's soccer team (3-9-0, 1-3-0 MAAC) looks to keep its positive momentum going when they host archrival Canisius on Wednesday night. The Purple Eagles are coming off their first conference win of the season, a 5-1 demolition of the Monmouth Hawks on October 6 at home.

Niagara Notes
  • Niagara's 5-1 win over Monmouth was the program's best outing in several seasons. The four-goal margin of victory was their highest since 2016, when they defeated Robert Morris, 4-0. The team's five goal output was the most in a game since at least 2012.
  • Luca Pacheco earned the team's first individual award of the season. His six point (2 G, 2 A) week earned MAAC Player of the Week honors for the first time in his collegiate career. The sophomore scored the opening goal at Rider on Oct. 3, then scored once and assisted twice against the Hawks.
  • Moe Tshuma and Bautista Pedezert also had standout efforts against Monmouth. Tshuma buried two penalty kicks while Pedezert registered three points (1 G, 1 A), including a highlight reel-worthy, game-winning goal.

Across The Pitch: Canisius Golden Griffins (2-6-1, 0-3-0 MAAC)
  • Canisius is in the midst of a three-game losing streak, all coming since the start of conference play. Their most recent outing was a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Fairfield on October 6.
  • In the race for the Little 3 Shield, the Griffs are currently in the driver's seat. After Niagara lost to Saint Bonaventure on September 15, Canisius took down the Bonnies, 4-0 on September 22.
  • Tomorrow's matchup will be the 54th all-time meeting between the Purple Eagles and Golden Griffins. Niagara holds a slim 25-23-5 edge over Canisius since the series started in 1969. The Purple Eagles haven't beaten the Griffs since their 1-0 win in 2013, going 0-2-2 in four meetings since.
