Men’s Soccer Returns Home, Hosts Monmouth Tomorrow

The Niagara men's soccer team (2-9-0, 0-3-0 MAAC) returns home this weekend for its second regular season game at Niagara Field. The Monmouth Hawks come to Monteagle Ridge in the same boat as the Purple Eagles, as both teams are looking for their first conference win.

Niagara Notes
  • The Purple Eagles are coming off three consecutive 2-1 losses, the most recent to Rider on Oct. 3. Luca Pacheco netted an early score, but the team squandered its lead by allowing two second-half goals to the Broncs.
  • Pacheco now has three goals on the season (most on the squad), including two in the last four outings. Last season, Pacheco scored two goals in 16 games played.
  • Hector Solorio Villalpando provided the assist on Pacheco's tally for his first point since the 2016 season.
 
Across The Pitch: Monmouth Hawks (2-7-1, 0-3-0 MAAC)
  • The Hawks' three MAAC losses have come against Manhattan, Siena and Fairfield, and like Niagara, each of Monmouth's conference games have been decided by one goal.
  • Luke Bromley leads Monmouth's offense with two goals on the season. Zachary Pereira and Michael Neff are tied for second on the team with three points (1 G, 1 A each).
  • In eight all-time meetings, the Hawks have never lost to the Purple Eagles. Monmouth leads the series – which dates back to 1996 – 7-0-1. Last season, Niagara lost the matchup, 4-0, in West Long Branch, NJ.
