NIAGARA UNIV. N.Y. – Looking to go to 5-1-0 in home play this season, the Niagara Purple Eagles host the Marist Red Foxes on Wednesday at Niagara Field starting at 3 p.m.
 
Scene Setter
  • The Purple Eagles are looking to rebound after suffering their first conference defeat of the season to the Quinnipiac Bobcats, 3-0, on Sept. 29 in a battle of first place.
  • The contest with Quinnipiac also snapped Niagara's 4-0-0 start at Niagara Field, the team's best start at home dating back to the 1988 season.
  • During Niagara's 4-0-1 run from Sept. 6-26, the team outscored its opponents by an 8-1 margin, and outshot opponents by a 67-53 margin.
 
Kickoff Tidbits
  • Kelsey Araujo had a team-high four shots for the Purple Eagles versus Quinnipiac. Araujo has recorded at least four shots in each of her last five games.
  • The Purple Eagles rank third in the MAAC in shots per game (16.0), and are second in shutouts this season (five).
  • Ibey's four-game winning goals lead the conference and are currently tied for the sixth-most in the NCAA.
  • Ibey currently leads the team in points with 13 (five goals, three assists), the second-most across the MAAC. Ibey's five goals are also currently tied for the second-most in the conference.
  • Araujo is currently second in the MAAC in both shots and shots per game, with 44 and 4.0, respectively.
 
Across The Pitch
Marist Red Foxes (5-4-1, 3-0-0 MAAC)
  • Marist will be looking for their fourth consecutive win to open up MAAC play, after previously earning wins against Iona, Canisius and Rider.
  • Two Red Foxes won MAAC Player of the Week awards this past week, Anna Davies and Francesca Guzzo. Davies was awarded Co-Rookie of the Week honors, while Guzzo was named Defensive Player of the Week. Guzzo is currently second in the conference in goals against average (0.99).
  • The all-time series between the two teams currently stands at 12-12-1, with Niagara winning each of the last two games at Niagara Field dating back to the 2014 season.
