BURLINGTON, Vt. – Despite an early first-half goal, the Niagara Purple Eagles men's soccer team was topped 3-1 by the Central Connecticut Blue Devils. After giving up a goal in the first minute,
Konrad Zydowicz headed home a rebound of a shot put on goal by
Mbongeni Tshuma to tie the match in the sixth minute. Central Connecticut would pull away, however, striking in the 17th and 66th minutes to send Niagara to a 3-1 loss.

Game Recap
- The Central Connecticut Blue Devils opened the scoring 10 seconds after the opening draw, as Ryan Taylor chipped a shot over Niagara goalkeeper Joel Gerberich from the six-yard box.
- It only took Niagara five minutes to respond and tie the game at 1-1. Following a corner kick from Zulfikar Karimi, Mbongeni Tshuma ripped a shot off the crossbar of the Central Connecticut goal, and Konrad Zydowicz headed home the rebound for the tying goal.
- Mackenzie Roach came close to giving Niagara a 2-1 lead in the 13th minute, but the shot was blocked by the Blue Devils' defense.
- Central Connecticut reclaimed the lead in the 17th minute on a goal by DeShawn Parker and held Niagara without a shot on goal the rest of the first half, holding the 2-1 advantage after 45 minutes.
- Niagara outshot Central Connecticut 6-5 in the second half, but failed to get back on the scoreboard.
- Gerberich made two saves on the Blue Devils' Parker early in the second to keep the Purple Eagles within one score, but Sebastian Calderon broke through for Central Connecticut to extend the lead.
- Owen Carter had a pair of consecutive shots turned away late in the second half and Matthew Krucko-Moeller came up just short on a header chance in the closing seconds as Central Connecticut claimed the 3-1 win.
