Women's Basketball Closes Out Non-Conference Play With Dominant Victory Over Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Purple Eagles closed out non-conference play with a dominant 81-44 win over the Colgate Raiders on Friday.

Game Recap
  • The Purple Eagles dominated the first quarter, going on an 11-0 run in the final two and a half minutes of the quarter to lead the Raiders 22-8 going into the second. Stroemple led NU with 10 first quarter points.
  • Niagara continued to assert its dominance over the Raiders in the second quarter. Seven points from Rampado and six from Jamie Sherburne kept Niagara comfortably in the lead, 26-21, with a little over six minutes remaining in the first half. Two three-pointers from McIntyre helped the Purple Eagles to a 41-28 lead going into halftime.
  • The Purple Eagles maintained their lead through the third quarter. Rampado added five more points in the third and McIntyre and Claire Wanzer each sank a 3-pointer. NU lead the Raiders, 59-38, at the end of the third quarter.
  • Back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers from Sherburne, McIntyre and Wanzer put NU up 74-42 with a little over four minutes remaining in the game. Wanzer hit her third three of the game with about 45 seconds left to ice Niagara's 81-44 victory.

  • Rampado led the Purple Eagles with 22 points and 11 rebounds, recording her fifth double-double of the season.
  • Stroemple added 14 points and McIntyre (14 points) and Wanzer (9 points) both set career-highs in scoring.
  • Sherburne recorded a double-double with 11 points and a career-high 10 assists.
  • The 37-point victory over Colgate is Niagara's largest victory of the season.
