- Niagara returns nine letterwinners from last year's squad which went 8-22 overall and 5-15 in the MAAC.
- Redshirt-senior forward Victoria Rampado returns for her final season on Monteagle Ridge. Rampado led the conference in scoring in 2016-17 with 16.8 points per game and was fourth in rebounding with 7.9 rebounds per game. Rampado was named to the All-MAAC Second Team at the conclusion of the season.
- Seniors Kaylee Stroemple (forward) and Jamie Sherburne (guard) also enter their final season with the Purple and White. Stroemple was second on the team in scoring (13.0 ppg) and rebounding (6.0 rpg) in 2016-17. Sherburne averaged 5.6 points per game and 2.0 rebounds per game.
- The junior class includes guard Kharysma Bryant, forward Adila Gathers and guard Diona Johnson, a transfer from Davidson College who will make her debut this season after sitting out the 2016-17 season due to NCAA eligibility rules.
- The Purple Eagles also welcome back sophomores Maggie McIntyre (guard), Morgan Baughman (guard), Jai Moore (guard) and Dagny Davidsdottir (forward). McIntyre and Baughman saw significant playing time in their freshman season; McIntyre started in 23 games and Baughman started in 29 out of 30 total games.

Fresh Faces
- Niagara welcomes two newcomers to the squad, guard Claire Wanzer and forward Emerald Ekpiteta.
- Wanzer is a local product, recruited from Amherst High School in Amherst, N.Y. Wanzer surpassed 1,000 career points in her junior season and set the Amherst High School single-game scoring record with 39 points. She averaged 16.0 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game in her high school career. Wanzer was a two-time All-Western New York selection was named to the All-ECIC III First Team three times.
- Ekpiteta, from London, England, played for the City of London Academy, part of the Women's Elite Academy Basketball League (WEABL). She averaged 14.9 points per game, 8.7 rebounds per game and 1.7 steals per game during the 2016-17 season en route to a WEABL National Championship.
On The Court
St. Bonaventure Bonnies (0-0, 0-0 Atlantic 10)
- The Bonnies return six letterwinners from last year's team which went 9-20 overall and 4-12 in the Atlantic 10.
- Senior guard Mariah Ruff led the Bonnies in scoring in 2016-17 with 13.9 points per game. She also averaged 4.0 rebounds per game and 3.8 assists per game and started in every game for St. Bonaventure. Ruff was named to the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference Second Team.
- The Bonnies also welcome back junior Mckenna Maycock (7.0 ppg, 4.4 rpg) and sophomore Jalisha Terry (7.3 ppg, 2.8 rpg) who both saw significant minutes in the 2016-17 season.
- Two freshman join the squad (Emily Calabrese, Abigail Johnson) as well as three junior college transfers (Arielle Harvey, Bree Paulson, Dajah Logan) who are eligible to play immediately.
- St. Bonaventure was selected 12th in the Atlantic 10 preseason coaches' poll.
Beating The Bonnies
- The Purple Eagles dominated Little 3 rival St. Bonaventure in their home opener on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, defeating the Bonnies 65-43.
- Victoria Rampado led the Purple Eagles with 17 points and Kaylee Stroemple led in rebounding with eight total rebounds.
- Then-freshman Morgan Baughman made her collegiate debut, hitting three 3-pointers.
- It was the Purple Eagles' first victory over St. Bonaventure in ten years. Niagara last defeated the Bonnies on Nov. 14, 2006, 71-64.
- It was Niagara's first home opener win since they defeated Detroit 71-49 on Nov. 29, 2014. That was also the last game in which the Purple Eagles defeated an opponent by over 20 points.
