Women's Basketball Falls To No. 15 Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Niagara women's basketball team fell to No. 15 Maryland, 92-65, on Thursday.

Game Recap
  • The Purple Eagles came out strong on offense in the first quarter. Four points from Rampado and Kharysma Bryant helped NU to a 14-13 lead over the nationally ranked Terps with a little over five minutes remaining in the quarter. Maryland, however, led 25-17 going into the second quarter.
  • Two threes from Rampado helped bring the Purple Eagles within six points of the lead, 40-44, with 1:30 left to play in the quarter. Niagara trailed by only six, 42-36, going into halftime.
  • Rampado sank her third 3-pointer of the game in the third quarter and Maggie McIntyre hit her second. The Purple Eagles trailed, 65-48, going into the final quarter of play.
  • Rampado, McIntyre and Sherburne each hit a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to overcome Maryland's lead and the No. 15 Terrapins came away with the 92-65 victory.

  • "I'm very proud of the overall effort today by our team," said head coach Jada Pierce. "We came out from the start ready, poised and confident. Credit to Maryland for having a strong second half. We continued to fight to the end. The main objective for this game today was to get better and we accomplished that! This will definitely prepare us for the future."

Inside the Numbers
  • Rampado led Niagara with a season-high 21 points and also had a team-high five rebounds. She went 4-for-6 from the 3-point line.
  • Sherburne added 10 points for NU and Jai Moore had a team-high two steals.
