Purple Eagles Seeking First Win - Niagara was edged by the Robert Morris Colonials in its season opener on August 28 by a score of 1-0.
- The match was scoreless until RMU went ahead in the 80th minute.
- NU dropped its second game of the year on August 30 against the Duquesne Dukes, 3-1.
- Sophomore forward Sergio Lujan tallied the first goal of the season for the Purple Eagles on a header following a cross from Brennan Koslow.

On the Road - Niagara went 3-6-1 on the road last season.
- NU's best all-time overall away record came in 2012, with a 6-2-1 mark.Â
Across the Pitch: #22 Michigan State Spartans (1-1-0)- The Spartans have won the previous two meetings with the Purple Eagles.Â
- In the NSCAA Coaches Poll on August 3, Michigan State was ranked No. 9 in the country. Â
- MSU dropped to No. 22 in the poll following a 1-0 loss to Oregon State on August 30.

Across the Pitch: Michigan Wolverines (0-1-0) - This will be the second ever meeting between the programs.
- Niagara faced Michigan in the 2012 NCAA Tournament First Round where the Purple Eagles fell 3-1 on Nov. 15 in their first-ever NCAA Tournament match. Niagara went ahead in the 59th minute before the Wolverines scored three straight goals.
- The Wolverines fell in their season opener to No. 6 Creighton, 1-0, on August 28.
- Before taking on Niagara on Sunday, Michigan will host the West Virginia Mountaineers on Friday, Sept. 4 at 4 p.m.
