Purple Eagles Look for First Road Win at Detroit

Last Game
•  Niagara defeated Cleveland State in overtime, 73-72, at home on Friday, Nov. 27.
•  Sam Lapszynski, who had her first start of the season, led the team in scoring with a career-high 24 points and in rebounds with a career-high 11 for her first career double-double. She also contributed a career-best three blocks..
•  Niagara scored six straight points to start the first quarter, with four of those points coming off of Cleveland State turnovers.
•  The Purple Eagles led the entire first quarter, and went into the second quarter leading 21-15.
•   The Vikings made a comeback in the second quarter, taking over the lead, 30-29, with 3:35 left in the half. 
•  Niagara battled back, regaining a lead with just 44 seconds left in the second quarter after Emily Granruth scored a 3-pointer and the Purple Eagles went into halftime leading 34-32.
•  In the second half, the score continued to remain close. With less than five minutes left in the half, the Vikings led 59-55, but, after a Cleveland State foul with 2:40 left, Lapszynski went to the free-throw line, making both shots and leaving Niagara trailing by only two points
•  A lay-up by Lapszynski with 22 seconds left in the fourth quarter tied the game at 61 and brought the Purple Eagles and Vikings into overtime.
•  Lapszynski opened scoring in overtime, shooting a lay-up less than 15 seconds into the period. 
•  With 11 seconds left in overtime, Taylor McKay made two free-throws to put the Purple Eagles up 73-69.
•  The Vikings' Adesuwa Aideyman made a 3-pointer as time expired, but the Purple Eagles maintained their lead and won their first game of the season. The win was also Pierce's first win as the Purple Eagles' head coach.

Last Match-Up With Detroit
•  Niagara and Detroit last met on Nov. 29, 2014 at Niagara University. 
•  The Purple Eagles defeated the Titans 71-49.
•  Taylor McKay was one of Niagara's top performers, contributing 14 points, six assists and six rebounds.
• Kaylee Stroemple led the Purple Eagles in rebounds with nine.
• Victoria Rampado added 10 points, three rebounds and one steal. 
•  Rosanna Reynolds was one of the Titans' high-scorers; she had 10 points.

•  Niagara faces four Horizon League teams in a row: Youngstown State (L, 71-54), Oakland (L, 77-67), Cleveland State (W, 73-72) and Detroit.
•  In the MAAC, Niagara ranks fourth in assists, averaging 15.0 per game, and fifth in steals, averaging 7.8 per game.
•  Lapszynski's .591 field goal percentage is tied for third best in the MAAC.
•  Victoria Rampado ranks sixth in the MAAC in rebounding, averaging 8.0 rebounds per game, and seventh in scoring, with 40 total points on the season so far.

Detroit Titans (0-4, 0-0 Horizon League)
•  This is first-year head coach Bernard Scott's ninth season spent in the Horizon League. Prior to Detroit, Scott was an asisstant coach at Cleveland State from 2010-14 and was promoted to associate head coach for the 2014-15 season. Scott also spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Youngstown State from 2008-10.
•  In the 2015-16 Horizon League Preseason Poll, Detroit was picked to finish seventh in the league.   
•  Rosanna Reynolds (Jr., G) was one of three juniors selected to the Preseason All-Horizon League First Team.
