Live VideoIn their first of two home games this week, the Niagara men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to the Rider Broncs. The Purple Eagles return to Niagara Field to host the Saint Peter's Peacocks in their third home match of MAAC competition.
Last Time Out- In their return home from a stretch with five games out of six on the road, the Purple Eagles fell to Rider 2-0, putting them at 0-3-1 in the MAAC.
- Niagara had numerous chances to get on the scoreboard on Wednesday as the team finished with a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal and a 12-10 advantage in total shots.
- Sonimi Halliday struck early to get Rider on the board in the 6th minute, and Elliot Otmani doubled the lead with an insurance goal in the 62nd minute.
- Colin Hanley stopped just one of the three shots on net he faced.
In the MAAC- With four games down and five games left in conference play, Niagara is still seeking its first victory over a MAAC opponent.
- Niagara ranks fourth in the MAAC in saves per game (4.21) and fifth in the MAAC in total assists (11).
- Leading scorer Alex Dimitriu remains at five goals on the season, good for fourth in the conference.
- Dimitriu's 11 total points ranks 12th in the MAAC.
Across the Pitch: Saint Peter's Peacocks (6-5-1 overall, 3-2-0 MAAC)- The Peacocks have won three of their last five games, but enter Saturday's match with Niagara after suffering a 3-1 loss at Monmouth on Wednesday.
- In their last five matches with Saint Peter's, the Purple Eagles are 3-1-1, including a 2-1 win last season.
- Saint Peter's sophomore Ezequiel Cei is the MAAC's leading scorer (14 points, 1.17 points per game).
- The Peacocks rank third in the MAAC in scoring offense (1.51 goals per game) and fifth in scoring defense (1.21 goals against per game).
