The Purple Eagles keep Atlantic Hockey play rolling this weekend as they stay out on the road for two games against the Air Force Falcons.

History 101
  • Conference play continues for the Purple and White when they face the Air Force Falcons this weekend. The Purple Eagles and Falcons have gone head-to-head 56 times already. By the end of the season, that number will have climbed to 60.
  • These teams met in the AHA quarterfinals last season. Inclement weather kept NU in Western New York until Friday morning and Air Force was able to take a 1-0 lead in the series with a 2-1 win that night. Niagara responded with a 4-3 win in game two and won the series 4-3 in overtime of game three.
  • The Niagara hockey's first win over a Division I opponent came on January 23, 1998 against Air Force. NU won by a 4-1 final.
  • These two teams played a game that took place outside of the Lower 48. NU faced off against Air Force in the Johnson Nissan Classic in Anchorage, Alaska on October 10, 1999. NU won 3-0.
  • The last time the Purple Eagles scored nine goals in a game came against the Falcons on March 3, 2000 when NU took a 9-1 win.

Last Time Out
  • Senior Matt Williams scored the game-winning overtime goal 4:49 into extra time, lifting Niagara hockey to a dramatic 4-3 win over Air Force in game three of the Atlantic Hockey Association Tournament Quarterfinals Series at the Cadet Ice Arena.
