The Purple Eagles men's soccer team takes on the Buffalo Bulls for its first home game of the season Friday night at Niagara Field with a 7:30 p.m. kick-off. The home opener is followed by another Little Three matchup on Sunday when NU travels to St. Bonaventure to take on the Bonnies at 4:00 p.m.

Chalk Talk
  • The last time Niagara took on UB was way back in the 2011 season. The game featured two weather delays and went into overtime tied at 1-1. With NU trailing 1-0 with just three minutes left on the clock, former Purple Eagle Carl Haworth scored his seventh goal of the season to tie the game on a penalty kick. The Bulls eventually won the game 2-1 in overtime.
  • Niagara is 13-18-5 all-time against Buffalo.
  • The Purple Eagles and the Bonnies have gone head-to-head in each of the past two seasons with each team taking one match. Callum Willmott opened the scoring for the Purple and White in a 2012 match they would go on to win 3-2. SBU took last season's meeting 3-1. Nicholas Watson scored the only NU goal.
  • Niagara is 14-29-3 all-time against St. Bonaventure. The first meeting came in 1964.
