NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara men's soccer team will look to bounce back with a victory when it hosts the UMass Lowell River Hawks in a non-conference matchup at Niagara Field on Friday, Sept. 6.

Purple Eagles 101
Niagara began the season with a pair of defeats and will look to improve this weekend when it welcomes UMass Lowell. The Purps dropped their opening game to Vermont, 1-0, before falling to St. Bonaventure, 3-1.
The Purple Eagle offense has been started by rookie
Nicholas Watson who has the team's only tally thus far, while
Julian Ekeze registered an assist. Junior Callum Willmott leads the team with six looks on net.
All four NU goalkeepers have seen action between the posts. In the contest against Vermont,
Eleftherios Lazaridis began the first half with a pair of saves, while
Spencer Semple and
William Banahene split time in the second half.
Scouting the River Hawks
The River Hawks (0-2-0) come in having lost their first two matches, including a 1-0 loss to Stetson University, their first match as an NCAA Division I program, followed by a 3-1 defeat to Florida Atlantic University.
The season's lone goal was scored by Homero Morais, while Daniel Galvin was credited with the assist. Goalkeeper duties has been given to Christopher Maierle who has make five saves for a 0.556 save percentage and a 1.99 goals-against average.
First Time For Everything
This will be the first time these two programs have met on the field.
On The Road Again
The Purple Eagles will begin their longest road trip of the season next weekend beginning with a two-game stint in Akron, Ohio for Akron Tournament. Niagara will face San Diego State on Sept. 13 and concluding the tournament with a bout against Virginia Commonwealth University on Sept. 15.
The five-game road trip continues in Moon Township, Pa. against Robert Morris (Sept. 20), followed by the team's second to last non-conference matchup against St. Francis (Pa.) in Loretto, Pa. on Sept. 22.
