Greeting purple earthlings!
We hope you all had a wonderful summer and are excited to get back to Purp Nation if you are already not on campus!! Our team has been up to all the same stuff… workouts, conditioning, lifting, hanging out with our families, and itching to get back on the floor together.
Monday will be move in day and NCAA compliance meeting day. We are so excited to get back to workouts… the season is just around the corner! Hopefully everyone enjoys the classes they are in and has a great start to the fall semester.
On an exciting note, our team manager, Renee Polka, took a visit to the city of champions, also known as Pittsburgh. It was really nice for Gabby and Val to hang out with her and show her around their hometown. While on the subject of Renee, she deserves our biggest thanks. So, shout out to Renee for all of the hard work you do for us. We appreciate it so much. It can’t be fun to do load after load of our disgusting laundry.
Good luck to men’s and women’s soccer as well as volleyball in any games they have this week! We can’t wait to see everyone on Monday! Have a great end to your summer, Purp Nation!
Fun Fact: It takes 43 muscles to frown, and only 17 to smile. So be sure to keep on smiling!!

Welcome back, Purp Nation!! Sorry for the slight delay in blogs but we have had a very busy few weeks! We finished up our last week of summer school with final exams and came home on the 12th.
We’ve been keeping very busy though! Just to give a few updates – Jess Flamm moved near Buffalo into a new apartment closer to her internship at the Cintas Plant. Kayla Stroman has been keeping busy and staying in shape in her summer league games. Lauren Gatto finished up her internship and has been taking some spinning classes. Val McQuade is in California on vacation with her family in San Diego, Los Angeles, Hollywood, and everywhere in between! Lucky girl!
Meghan McGuinness has been working basketball camps at home and is now on vacation in South Carolina. Gabby Baldasare will be in South Carolina at the beach in a few weeks too! Everyone has been staying in shape following our strength and conditioning books from Matt, our strength and conditioning coach.
Also, Summer Olympics scores were updated last week with Team Germany in the lead!!!!!
Fun Fact: Before the invention of the light bulb, people slept an average of 10 hours each night. I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to getting rid of light bulbs if this was the case again…
Have a great and blessed day!

Hello Purp Nation! As promised, this week we have included some pictures and video clips of the NUWBB Summer Olympics. This week we played flag football and dodgeball. Both games were highly competitive and rather grueling. We are split into four teams of three and given a country name.
The four countries are Germany, France, Italy, and Russia. Team France – Chanel, Kelly and Taylor – are currently atop the leaderboard. The prize has not been unveiled, but has been promised to be very valuable. So naturally, with this in mind, everyone has been competing at an incredibly high level.
Kayla Stroman is a tiny, fiery, passionate version of Tim Tebow. Her competition level today in football was honestly a little scary. We hope you enjoy the video clips of some highlights from the events. Please sit back and watch athleticism at its finest and please submit your votes for Heisman.
Thanks!!! Have a great week, Purp Nation!
Fun Fact: Approximately 500,000 gallons of water plummet over Niagara Falls every second.

What’s poppin’ Purp Nation? Hope everyone had a great Fourth of July!!! Last week, much to our surprise, we learned that many people have been watching and reading our blogs… Time to step it up! Real talk.
This week let’s talk about a typical summer day in the life of a NUWBB player. We usually wake up around 8:15, go to breakfast at Clet Fine Dining, go to class from 9-11:45, eat lunch and get a workout in. If you have an afternoon class like Gabby, usually those players will workout in the morning before class. If you’re lucky, you can get a nap in or some time to lay out and catch some cosmic rays before pickup at 4. After pickup, we go to dinner. After dinner, we hit Gally (Gallagher Center) for some speed and agility conditioning and then head over to Dwyer to get swole. After lift is over around 7:30, we get dinner, hit the books, and go to bed.
Pretty busy days, eh? Keeps us in line and on the grind. This week, the NUOP kids moved in to the dorms. It’s nice to have other people around and make new friends. Hopefully we will see them at some of our games! Next week will consist of finals and packing up to go home for the next seven weeks. Blog topic for next week: NUWBB Summer Olympics.

Hello Purp Nation and blog faithful! This past week our team had some interesting experiences. We did community service in Niagara Falls and helped the less fortunate. This was new for many of us, as we have not been faced with these types of experiences before. We served dinner and distributed groceries and clothes. It was a very humbling experience that made us appreciate what we have and how blessed we are.
On a lighter note, workouts have been going well. The new freshmen have arrived and we have been able to push them around a little in pick up. Already, one of the freshmen has a nice black eye and possibly needs stitches from an elbow to the face, as you can see below. Everyone has been working hard and having fun!
Fun Fact: By brushing your teeth with your non-dominant hand, you can reduce the risk of early onset Alzheimer’s.
Thanks for reading our blog! Stay tuned for Beach Day!
