The No. 3 Niagara Purple Eagles will start the 2012 College Hockey America Tournament by taking on the No. 2 Robert Morris Colonials, the host school for this weekend’s tournament.

Get To Know Your Foe: Robert Morris
The No. 2 Robert Morris Colonials enter this weekend’s series against the Purple Eagles with an overall 17-9-4 record, and a 6-3-3 CHA record.
The Colonials are led by freshman Rebecca Vint, who has scored 21 goals, 21 assists and 42 points in 30 games. Robert Morris also gets strong play from sophomore Thea Imbrogno (15-19-34) and senior Brianna Delaney (8-18-26).
In net for Robert Morris will likely be junior Kristen DiCiocco, who has recorded a 15-9-3 record, along with a 1.96 goals-against average and an .926 save percentage.
Tight Games
Three of Niagara’s regular-season games against Robert Morris this year have been decided by a goal or less. Each team would claim a 1-0 victory, while the Feb. 12 game ended in a 2-2 tie.

Niagara’s semifinal contest against Robert Morris marks the first time that the two teams have played in the postseason.

Kayla Raniwsky have been playing well as of late for the Purple Eagles. Owczarczak has scored two goals, an assist and three points in her last two games, while Raniwsky has earned two goals and two points in her last two games.

Erica Owczarczak currently has 49 career points, one point shy of earning 50 during her career. The West Seneca, N.Y. native would become the first Purple Eagle defenseman to score 50 points since Shannon Moulson (2004-08) scored 63 points (17-46-63).
Climbing The Charts
Jenna Hendrikx currently has 33 career goals, tying her for eighth place on Niagara’s Career Goal Scoring list with Teresa Marchese-Del Monte. Her next goal would put her in a tie for seventh place with Candice Moxley (2001-05) and two goals would put her in a tie for sixth place with Amy Jack (2002-05).
