Niagara will try to snap a three-game losing streak when it faces the Oakland Grizzlies for the first time since the 2008-09 season.
Both teams boast starting-fives that don’t include any seniors. The Purple Eagles and Grizzlies start two redshirt juniors (
Lauren Gatto and
Kayla Stroman on Niagara’s side and Annemarie Hamlet with Elizabeth Hamlet on Ohio’s side) but from there it is all underclassmen. NU will start another junior and a pair of sophomores while OU starts a sophomore and two true-freshmen. The Purple Eagle’s roster includes only one senior,
Jess Flamm, and the Grizzlies have just two.

Last Time Out...
Niagara went on a 22-7 run in the second half but it wasn’t enough as the Purple Eagles fell to the Bucknell Bison 77-69 on Wednesday.
Kelly Van Leeuwen was one of three Purple Eagles to score in the double-digits. She led the way on offense with 17 points while
Chanel Johnson scored 12 and
Meghan McGuinness scored 10.
The Purple Eagles had success as a team from the charity stripe, making 12-of-13 for a 92.3 percent success rate.
On The Court: Oakland Grizzlies (3-1, 0-0 Summit League)
Oakland started the season with a pair of wins over George Mason and American University before losing their first game of the season 61-59 to Buffalo. The Grizzlies are on their first road-trip of the season, which began with a 52-51 win over Canisius.
The Grizzlies start a pair of true-freshmen, Olivia Nash and Elena Popkey. Nash is averaging a double-double with 12.5 ppg and 11.3 rpg through the first four games of the year while Popkey has 7.8 ppg and 5.5 rpg..
Against the Grizzlies (Oakland leads 4-2)
Oakland has won the last three meetings between the Grizzlies and Purple Eagles. Niagara found success from 2002-04 when it won back-to-back games 71-63 and 75-64.
Finishing Strong
Niagara has outscored its opponents in the second half in the last two games. The Purple Eagles won the second half against Bowling Green 40-38 before outscoring Bucknell 49-41.
Shaking Off the Turkey
The Purple Eagles are 4-6 in the last 10 games following Thanksgiving. The most recent win following the holiday was last year’s 61-55 victory over Bucknell.
Close Calls
All four of Niagara’s games this season have been decided by a single-digit margin. The team’s season opening victory over Robert Morris was by four points while the last three have been decided by two points (St. Bonaventure), five points (Bowling Green), and eight points (Bucknell).
