Both the Purple Eagles and the Bison enter Wendnesday’s game with a 1-2 record. Niagara, however, will try and get back to their winning ways after dropping their last two while Bucknell tries to build on the momentum from a 59-50 win over Canisius.
Niagara has had recent success against Bucknell, having won two of the last three meetings between the two teams. Kayla Stroman’s play is always smooth against the Bison, she’s averaged 13.5 ppg in her two career games. She scored 17 points in her freshman year followed by 10 in last year’s contest. Lauren Gatto also scored 10 points in last year’s victory.

Last Time Out...
Niagara had a season-high in points and six Purple Eagles recorded season-highs in points in a game in the team’s 79-74 loss to Bowling Green. Lauren Gatto led the team with 16 points and was joined in double figures by Chanel Johnson (14 points) and Meghan McGuinness (13 points). Down 69-62 with 2:27 remaining, the Purple Eagles continued to chip away at the lead and cut it to four points on three occasions over the next two minutes but Bowling Green made free throws on the last possession to seal the game.
On The Court: Bucknell Bison (1-2, 0-0 Patriot League)
Bucknell earned its first win of the season with a 59-50 win over Canisius in downtown Buffalo. Senior guard Alyssa Dunn scored a career-high 22 points to bring the Bison’s record to 1-2 on the year. Dunn leads the team with 13.3 ppg this year while fellow guard Shelby Romine is right behind her with 13.0 ppg. Forward Lindsey Horbatuck leads the way in rebounds with 13.0 rpg.
Against the Bison (Bucknell leads 5-4)
The Purple Eagles have won two of their last three meetings against the Bison to climb to within a game in the overall series. Both of those wins came at home, with the lone loss in the stretch coming in Lewisburg.
Against the Patriot League
Niagara has played seven of the eight schools from The Patriot League. The Purple Eagles are 30-20 versus Army, Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross Lafayette, Lehigh, and Navy. The only team Niagara has not played from The Patriot League is American University.
New Boss at the Helm
The Bison hired Aaron Roussell in April 2012. Roussell is the ninth head coach in the program’s history and comes from the University of Chicago where he had a 161-50 record and made three Sweet Sixteen appearances with one appearance in the Elite Eight.

Bucknell welcomed back 10 letterwinners, including four starters, from the 2011-12 team.
Taking the Points You’re Given
Two Purple Eagles have found success from the charity stripe so far this season. Meghan McGuinness is a perfect 6-for-6 and Kayla Stroman is 9-for-10 through three games in 2012-13.
Welcome to Purp-Nation
Freshman Taylor McKay played her first game as a Purple Eagle against Bowling Green on Nov. 15. She played 14 minutes and went 2-for-5 from the floor for four points.
The Future is Bright
Freshman Vanessa Neal took advantage of increased playing time against St. Bonaventure, going a perfect 3-for-3 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the foul line for eight points. She was the second-highest scoring guard for Niagara behind Kayla Stroman, who scored 11 points.
