Purple Eagles 101
The Purple Eagles (6-5-0) started off their conference schedule last weekend, earning a 1-1-0 record. Junior defender
Danielle Kennedy is tops on the team in goals (4) and points (8), with forwards
Catherine Meyer and
Jamie Raepple tied for second on the Purple Eagles with seven points.
Rookie
Maria Siegrist-Gabas leads the team in assists (4), while topping all freshmen with six points.
Keeper
Claire Feiertag is earning quality playing time during her rookie season, earning a 1.40 goals-against average to go along with her .779 save percentage. She has registered three shutouts so far this season.
Scouting Fairfield
Fairfield welcomes Niagara to Alumni Field with a 5-3-2 overall record, while earning a pair of victories in the start of conference play—defeating Rider, 1-0 before dropping Loyola, 2-1.
There is a three-way tie on Fairfield for the top spot in points (4), in juniors Shannon Fay, Jac Ley and Carly Beyar. Fay and Ley lead the team with two goals each.
Keeper duties have been split between sophomore Kathleen Early and freshman Veronica Saez. Early has accumulating a 3-2-1 record, making 32 saves for .889 save percentage. Saez is 2-1-1 on the season, registering 22 saves for a .815 save percentage.
Stags vs. Purple Eagles
Fairfield leads the all-time series by a 17-6-1 margin. The teams last met in the final game of the 2011 regular season, playing to a scoreless draw at Niagara Field.
Taking a Look at Iona
Iona (3-6-2; 1-1-0 MAAC) came out last weekend with a 0-1-1 record, losing to Seton Hall, 1-0 before playing Fairleigh Dickinson to a 1-1 draw.
The team is led by sophomore forward Samantha Fiorenzo (2-1-5) and senior defender Leah Taylor (1-2-4), with forwards Melissa Frederick and Alex Chinich also providing help in the offense with a goal each.
Trista Rivera has been the go-to keeper for the Gaels, playing in all games so far this season for a .789 save percentage and a 1.29 goals-against average.

Niagara holds a 14-7-1 advantage over Iona, winning its last meeting, 4-0 on Oct. 28, 2011. Current Purple Eagles contributed to the victory as junior

Last Time Out
Niagara came out of the first weekend of MAAC play with a 1-1 record. The team recorded a 3-2 win over Siena on Friday before dropping a 3-1 decision to Marist on Sunday. Price had a five-point weekend, scoring a pair of goals against Siena and contributing an assist in the Purple Eagles lone goal on Sunday.
Offensive Prowl
The Purple Eagles have outshot its opponents 17-15 so far this season. The team is currently tops in the conference in three offensive categories. Niagara is number one in the MAAC for goals per game (1.55) and assists per game 1.45.
The Purple Eagles are tied for the lead in assists (16) with Marist, while placing third in goals (17).
A Helping Hand
Siegrist-Gabas is currently tied with Marist’s Samantha Panzer for the conference lead in assists. Each have contributed four helpers, but the Spain native has sole possession of the top sport in assists per game with 0.40.
Next Up for NU
The Purple Eagles return home next weekend for a pair of contests at Monteagle Ridge. Niagara welcomes Manhattan on Friday, Oct. 12, before battling Saint Peters on Sunday, Oct. 14.
