ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Niagara men’s soccer team came back to tie the Hartwick Hawks, 1-1, on Monday in a game postponed due to inclement weather last night.
The two goals in the match were separated by 28 seconds as Niagara (2-1-1) equalized immediately after falling behind 1-0 in the 78th minute. The move started with
Callum Willmott’s ball to
Bryan DaCruz and his cross found
Carl Haworth who rounded his defender and slotted a left foot shot past the Hartwick (1-1-1) keeper.
“In the first half we were a little flat from a long weekend and Hartwick put us under a lot of pressure,” head coach
Chase Brooks said. “We made some adjustments at halftime and we responded immediately after they scored, which is a great sign. It was a battle for the rest of the game. Overall, I’m proud of how the guys handled the adversity from yesterday and today and I’m looking forward to the Green Bay Classic.”
The Purple Eagles will take their three-game unbeaten streak to the Green Bay Classis in two weeks where they will face Green Bay on Friday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. and Eastern Illinois on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m.
