NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - The Niagara women’s basketball 2011-12 non-conference schedule will feature meetings against six in-state foes, an in-season tournament and matchups against three teams that earned postseason bids last season.
Niagara will open its campaign against Big 4 rival Buffalo on Friday, Nov. 11 inside of the “Taps” Gallagher Center. The Purple Eagles will then play in their first in-season tournament in three seasons when they travel to Rock Hill, S.C. to participate in the Winthrop Classic from Nov. 18-20. Niagara will face Bradley, 2011 NCAA Tournament participant Stetson and Winthrop.
The Purple Eagles will then return to Monteagle Ridge to host Bucknell on Friday, Nov. 25 and Penn on Sunday, Nov. 27 over Thanksgiving weekend. Niagara will take to the road for games at Colgate (12/2) and Albany (12/6) the following week. The last non-conference home game for the Purple Eagles will be against Binghamton on Saturday, Dec. 10.
Niagara begins its final three non-conference games with a mid-week matchup at Ohio on Tuesday, Dec. 13, followed by back-to-back road games against NIT participants in Little 3 rival St. Bonaventure (Dec. 16) and 2011 NIT quarterfinalists Syracuse on Dec. 29.
