Niagara Golf Finishes Day One At MAAC Championships

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLA. - The Niagara men's and women's golf teams finished day one at the 2011 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Golf Championships at Disney's Magnolia golf course.

The men's team finished day one with a team score of 336, good for ninth place out of nine teams. The Purple Eagles are currently eight strokes behind eighth-place Rider and 39 strokes behind Loyola. Trevor Kenney led Niagara during day one on the par-72 course by shooting a 79, good for 22nd place tie out of 46 golfers.

The women's team finished day one with a team score of 389, good for sixth place out of six teams. Niagara is currently 50 strokes behind fifth-place Boston University, while 71 strokes behind current leader Siena. Brittany Siechen is in a tie for 24th place out of 32 golfers for Niagara, after shooting a 94 during the first round.

The Purple Eagles will resume round two play tomorrow morning.
