Men's Soccer Prepares to Host MAAC Opponents

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara men’s soccer team is gearing up for a pair of tough conference games this weekend as it hosts Saint Peter’s on Friday at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, Manhattan comes to campus for a Senior Day game at Noon.

The Purple Eagles (6-3-3, 1-1-2) relied on different players to step up last weekend against top MAAC opponents.  Senior midfielder Liam Gilbert posted three assists over the weekend.  Against Fairfield, with Niagara missing leading scorer Carl Haworth, rookie Kyle Moraldo scored his first collegiate goal and added an assist, Mike Pass scored his first goal of the season, and Ben Thorne re-joined the team from injury to score a brief go-ahead goal with less than four minutes left in regulation.

Saint Peter’s (2-9-0, 1-2-0) comes to campus on a two-game losing streak.  Noah Sadoui leads the Peacocks in scoring; registering three goals on the season.

Sunday’s game, which is Senior Day, is against a Manhattan team (0-12-0, 0-3-0) looking for its first win of the season.  Six of its losses were by a single goal.

Check out interviews with head coach Chase Brooks as he talks about getting the team back to their winning ways and freshman Kyle Moraldo talks about scoring his first collegiate goal.
