Lady Jaspers Down Women's Basketball

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Senior forward Liz Flooks led all scorers with 16 points as the Niagara women's basketball team was defeated by the Manhattan Lady Jaspers, 71-32, on Saturday afternoon at Draddy Gymnasium.

Flooks' season-high of four 3-pointers were a season-high by a Niagara (1-13, 0-3 MAAC) player. Flooks was the lone Purple Eagle to score in double figures. The short-handed Purple Eagles, who played without its starting backcourt of Kayla Stroman and Ali Morris, were held to their fewest points total in a conference game.

Niagara's 2-for-19 start from the field allowed Manhattan (9-5, 1-2 MAAC)  to build a 30-9 lead with nine minutes left in the first half en route to a 38-12 halftime advantage.

Niagara, which defeated the Lady Jaspers in the 2010 MAAC Tournament quarterfinals, dropped its eighth straight game as Manhattan picked up its first conference win.

Niagara continues its road weekend at Iona on Monday, Jan. 10 at noon.
