Kids’ Day

The Niagara Purple Eagles will host the Siena Saints in their annual Kids’ Day game on Friday, Jan. 14 at 11 a.m.

The Purple Eagles, who dropped their ninth straight game on Monday at Iona, entered last season’s Siena game after losing at Iona in its previous game. Niagara would go on to edge Siena in overtime, 65-63, on Jan. 29, 2010 in the last meeting between the teams. The game, which was the first of five straight home games, was a springboard for the Purple Eagles they swept their homestand for their longest win streak in five seasons.

Ready for Action

s Niagara starts conference play 0-4 for the third straight season.

s The starting backcourt of Kayla Stroman and Ali Morris have missed the last three games due to injury. Stroman, who played in 39 straight games to start her career, has not played since suffering an injury on Dec. 9 versus Hofstra.

s On Dec. 22, senior Liz Flooks passed Shaunna Ambrose for seventh all-time in 3-pointers at NU. Flooks and Ambrose are the only two Purple Eagles to be named MAAC Player of the Week in the last five seasons.

s Flooks is 19th all-time in scoring after passing former teammate Jennifer McNamee (‘10) on Jan. 8. Flooks needs four points to tie current assistant coach Katie Murphy (‘03) for 18th place.

s Flooks is 10th in the MAAC in scoring (11.1) and sixth in 3-pointers per game (1.6).

s The Purple Eagles are fourth in the MAAC in steals, averaging 9.2 per contest.

s Sophomore Jessica Flamm and freshman Chanel Johnson had career-high performances at Iona. Flamm had career-highs in points (17) and rebounds (8), while Johnson had career-highs with 20 points and 11 rebounds for her first career double-double.

Flamm’s and Johnson’s Career Day

Flamm had career-highs in points (17) and rebounds (8), while Johnson had career-highs with 20 points and 11 rebounds for her first career double-double. On The Court

Siena Saints (6-8, 4-0 MAAC)

Siena enters Friday’s game on a five-game winning streak. The Saints defeated Fordham in their last non-conference game before winning their first four MAAC games to lie in first place with Marist, who Niagara will play on Sunday. Forward Serena Moore (14.8 ppg) and guard Maja Gerlyng (10.6) are both averaging in double figures scoring.

Against the Stags (Siena leads 39-22)

The Purple Eagles edged the Saints, 65-63, in their last meeting to break a six-game losing streak in the series.
