LORETTO, Pa. - The Niagara women's golf team finished in third place at the St. Francis Spring Invite on Saturday. Freshman Brittany Siechen recorded her third career top 10 finish with a 92.

The Purple Eagles four-player total of 425 finished behind champion Robert Morris' 341 and the host Red Flashes' 347.

The tricky Donald Ross greens at the Immergrun Golf Course proved to challenge the Purples Eagles.

"This was one of the best on-site college course designs I have ever seen," Niagara head coach Steve Latimer said. "The course was in very nice condition for so early in year. D. R. courses always put an emphasis on the short game and putting. Unfortunately, the players had some struggles, but remained positive and upbeat throughout."

Siechen's 92 tied her for eighth place on the afternoon. Ona Peck cared a 97, placing her in 11th place. Megan Bruso and Katie Hamilton recorded 116 and 120, respectively. Sarah Hanley added a 131.

The determination and desire to improve was shown by the team on Friday, as they played their practice round through a little snow storm and the temperature hovering around 40 degrees.

Women's hockey standout Jenna Hendrikx competed in her first career collegiate golf match, tallying a 136.

"She got along great, and blended very well with the team. She was able to give some excellent insight to the players about the dynamics of another sports team. Jenna tried hard on every shot, as did the entire team. Their scores are no indication of their enjoyment of the game, or the school spirit they all demonstrate."
