OLEAN, N.Y. - Senior golfer Jason Polka (Lewiston, N.Y.) shot a 1-under par 69 at the first day of the Leo Kennan Ivitational on Sunday.
Polka's 69 marks the first sub-70 round in his career. He sits in third place at the event, one shot back of Binghamton's Jake Katz and St. Bonaventure's Kevin Lewis, the co-leaders.
The Purple Eagles four-man total of 300 puts them in a tie for sixth place with MAAC opponent Siena and Cornell. Niagara also sits just three strokes back from Rider (4th).
Junior Jeremy Christie (St. Catherines, Ont.) shot a 75, while senior Joe Tonnos (St. Catherines, Ont.) carded a 76. Trevor Kenney (South Burlington, Vt.) and Kelly Robinson (Fergus, Ont.) both tallied an 80.
The Purple Eagles participates in the final round of the Leo Kennan Invitational on Monday.
