Jarvis Paces Golf at Colgate Invitational

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The golf team opened the season at the Colgate Invitational with lone senior Mike Jarvis (Lancaster, N.Y.) leading the way on the first day of a two-day tournament.

The captain paced Niagara with an opening round 74 at the Seven Oaks Golf Club. The Two-over par score ties him for fifth place on the opening round.

Sophomore Jason Polka (Lewiston, N.Y.) chipped in with an 80, while juniors Don Bryson (Brantford, Ont.) and Chris Singleton (Niagara Falls, Ont.) each had an 81. Sophomore Joe Tonnos (St. Catharines, Ont.) added an 82 in the opening round.

The Purple Eagles totaled a 316, good for 10th place on the first day of the tourney. Colgate turned in a first-day best 297, with Bucknellending with a 299.  MAAC school Rider is fourth with 306.

The tournament concludes at the Seven Oaks Golf Club, Sunday, in Hamilton,. N.Y.
