CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Freshman Jason Polka (Lewiston, N.Y./Lewiston-Porter) tied for fourth place at the Lafayette Invitational, Saturday, with a career-best 75. The Purple Eagles finished in a seven-way tie for ninth place at the one-day event.
Polka's three-over par total was one stroke better than his previous low round, a 76 at the Ft. Lauderdale Classic, March 8, and at the UC Spring Invitational, April 3. He finished five strokes off the lead.
Sophomores Don Bryson (Brantford, Ont.) and Chris Singleton (Niagara Falls, Ont.) finished with totals of 79 and 82, respectively. Junior Mike Jarvis (Lancaster, N.Y./St. Francis) turned in an 86, while senior Chris Hart (Ithaca, N.Y.) finished with a 90.
Freshman Joe Tonnos (St. Catharines, Ont.) filed as an individual in the field, and ended with an 81. The Purple Eagles four-man total of 322 was good enough for ninth as Lehigh won the event.
The invite was called after the first day, as golfers battled with frigid temperatures all day. The Purple Eagles are back in action Friday and Saturday, April 20-21, at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational in Littlestown, Pa.
