BALTIMORE - With a chance to earn a first-round by in the conference tournament, the men's soccer team (5-10-2, 3-5-1 MAAC) could not capitalize, falling to the No. 1 team in the MAAC, Loyola (15-3, 8-1), 1-0 in overtime, Sunday.

Jason Whitehead (Middletown, N.Y.) made six saves, allowing just the game-winning tally in the 97th minute of play. Loyola's Milos Kocic kept the Purple Eagles off the scoreboard with his 12th shutout of the season.

Loyola freshman Phil Bannister tallied his sixth game winner of the season off a crossing pass from Ziggy Kamara. Bannister beat the Niagara defender with one touch and buried the shot for the win.

Levi Tesch (Wolcott, N.Y.) gave Niagara its best scoring chances, totaling three shots, two on goal.

The loss drops the Purple Eagles to the No. 7 seed in the MAAC Tournament, which takes place Nov. 13-18 at Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Niagara will faceoff with the No. 10 seed, Manhattan, on the 13th.
