Men's Soccer Loses Contest at Rider, 2-0

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The men's soccer team (5-9-2, 3-4-1 MAAC) was defeated at Rider (6-9-2, 1-5-2 MAAC) Friday, 2-0. The Purple Eagles, who are jockeying for playoff position, were outshot 19-14 in the loss.

Coming into the final weekend of play, NU was in search of a top six seed for the MAAC Championships, held at Lake Buena Vista, Fla., Nov. 13-18. Up next for the Purple Eagles is the No. 1 team in the conference, Loyola.

Senior goalkeeper Jason Whitehead (Middletown, N.Y.) made seven saves in the loss, tying his career high.

A.J. Parillo gave Rider a lead they would not relinquish at the 23 minute mark. Anthony Gilbert centered the ball to Parillo who beat Whitehead for his third goal of the season.

Nico Tramontana extended the lead off a direct kick, with Gilbert picking up his second assist of the contest, in the second period.

Levi Tesch (Wolcott, N.Y.) and Jordon DeRoy (Barrie, Ont.) each got three shots on goal in the loss.
