NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – After taking a week off for practice, the Niagara University golf team returns to action this weekend when it participates in the 18th annual Leo Keenan Golf Invitational at the par-70 Barlett Country Club in Olean, N.Y. Fifteen teams, including Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foes Canisius and Rider will compete in the 36-hole, two-day tournament beginning Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and continuing Monday at 9:30 a.m.
The Purple Eagles are coming off an 11th-place finish at the Colgate Invitational Dept. 9-10. Junior Mike Jarvis (Lancaster, N.Y./St. Francis) posted his second consecutive top 10 finish when he placed tied for seventh. Jarvis shot a two-over par 74 to finish with a two-day total of 149 which was six back of medalist Dan McCarthy of LeMoyne. Senior Chris Hart (Ithaca, N.Y.) finished tied for 20th after shooting par on the final day for a 152 total.
Last year, the Purple Eagles finished third among the 15 teams with a 585 two-day score. Jarvis tied for 10th, while Hart placed in a tie for 25th.
