Little Three Men’s Soccer Match-Up: Niagara at St. Bonaventure Wednesday

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – Looking for it second consecutive win in the series, the Niagara University men’s soccer team (1-4-0) travels to St. Bonaventure Wednesday for a 5 p.m. game at McGraw-Jennings Field vs. the Bonnies (0-5-0).

The Purple Eagles are coming of a heart-breaking 1-0 overtime loss at Robert Morris on Sept. 17, while St. Bonaventure lost 1-0 at Buffalo on Sept. 15.

Senior and Niagara Athlete of the Week Matt Stedman (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) leads the squad with four goals and eight points. Freshman Michael Malone (Rochester, N.Y.) has a goal and an assist while sophomore Stephen Kauble (Canal Winchester, N.Y.) tops the squad with two assists.

In net, senior James McKenna (Pittsford, N.Y.) has a 1-1 record, 2.40 goals-against average and .600 save percentage.

St. Bonaventure is led by Josh Henderson who has two of the Bonnies’ six goals. Kevin Omokhua and Nick Lopez each have a goal and an assist for three points.

Massimo Marchese-Collu and Ken Lish have split most of the time in net for St. Bonaventure. Marchese-Collu is 0-2 on the season with a 1.94 goals-against average while Lish is also 0-2 with a 2.26 GAA.

The Bonnies are up in the all-time series, 24-11-3, but the Purple Eagles won last year’s game, 3-1, on Monteagle Ridge.
