NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara University men’s soccer team (4-5-1, 2-0-1) played in its third consecutive double overtime game Friday, but this time came way with a tie, 1-1, against Rider University (3-6-3, 0-1-1) in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at Niagara Field.
The Broncos got on the board first when Mike Juska scored on a penalty kick in the 14th minute.
Senior Rafael Venturini (Victoria, Brazil) hit two posts in the first half before classmate Kwame Oduro (Toronto, Ont.) got the Purple Eagles on the board with a break-away goal in the 26th minute.
Freshman John Fiutowski (Ottawa, Ont.) picked up the tie in net, making three saves and Rider’s Daniel Riverso had five saves.
Niagara returns to action Sunday when it hosts Loyola at 1 p.m.
