NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – After the first 18 holes Saturday, the Niagara University golf team is seventh out of 16 teams at the Colgate Invitational in Hamilton, N.Y.
The Purple Eagles shot a 308 and trail Lehigh (294), St. Francis (Pa.) and Cornell (300), Colgate (302), University of Rochester (305) and Bucknell (306).
On the par-72 course, leader Max Muller of Lehigh shot a 70.
For Niagara, seniors Chris Agostinelli (Rochester, N.Y.) and Andrew Burke (Rochester, N.Y.) both shot 76. Junior Dan Misko (Grand Island, N.Y./St. Joseph’s) shot a 77, sophomore Mike Jarvis (Athol Springs, N.Y./St. Francis) a 79 and junior Chris Hart (Ithaca, N.Y.) shot an 80.
"Overall, the guys couldn’t put it all together today," second-year head coach Kevin Miller said. "It was a so-so day. Sometimes the drives were good, but the putts weren’t. Some times the drives were bad and the putts good. There is lots of room for improvement tomorrow."
The Purple Eagles return to the course at 9 a.m. Sunday.
