Niagara Men’s Golf Earns Tie for Third at Lafayette Invitational

Freshman Mike Jarvis

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – After totaling a 302 Friday, the Niagara men’s golf team posted a score of 304 Saturday to earn a third-place tie in the Lafayette Invitational held at Center Valley Country Club, in Center Valley, Pa.

Niagara junior Andrew Burke (Rochester, N.Y.) led the Purple Eagles both days, shooting a 74 Friday and tying a career-low with a 73 Saturday. His 147 total over the two days earned him a tie for seventh overall – just five strokes back from the individual champion, Siena sophomore Bryan Bigley.

Three Purple Eagles each posted a 76 Friday and each followed that up with a 77 Saturday. Junior Chris Agostinelli (Rochester, N.Y.), and sophomores Chris Hart (Ithaca, N.Y.) and Dan Misko (Grand Island, N.Y.) totaled 153 in the tournament.

Freshman Mike Jarvis (Athol Springs, N.Y.) improved on his 79 from Friday to shoot a 78 Saturday, despite the course playing as a par-71 Saturday verses a par-70 Friday.

American University took the team title, totaling 595, followed by St. Bonaventure, which posted a 601.

The Purple Eagles returns to action next weekend in the Cape May Invitational in Cape May, N.J., hosted by Mount St. Mary’s University.
