Men’s Golf Remains in Fourth after Day Two of MAAC Championship

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara University men’s golf team posted a team score of 308 Saturday, day two of the JetBlue Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship at the Magnolia Golf Course, in Walt Disney World. Combined with Friday’s 301, the team’s total of 609 ranks fourth heading into tomorrow’s final round of 18.

Niagara junior Andrew Burke (Rochester, N.Y.) shot the low round today for the Purple Eagles, registering a 4-over 76, tying his output in day one. His two-day total of 152 stands tied with freshman Mike Jarvis (Athol Springs, N.Y.) for 12th overall in the tournament. Jarvis, who led Niagara with a 73 after Friday’s round, recorded a 79 in just the fourth round of his collegiate career.

Tied for 17th overall are junior Chris Agostinelli (Rochester, N.Y.) and sophomore Chris Hart (Ithaca, N.Y.). The two teammates each shot a 76 yesterday, followed by a 77 today.

Sophomore Dan Misko (Grand Island, N.Y.) improved nine strokes from his round-one 87, shooting a 78 today for a total of 161 through 36.

Loyola College, the leader by five after Friday’s round, totaled a 296 today for a two-day total of 583. Siena College made up five strokes on the Greyhounds and now the two teams stand tied at 583 heading into the final 18. Rider ranks third with a team total of 600, nine strokes better than Niagara.

Two Siena players, Allen Parker and Robby Bigley, tied for the low round of the day, each shooting a 69. Teammate Bryan Bigley leads all golfers through round two, shooting a 6-under 138.

The final round is scheduled to begin at 6:52 a.m. Sunday morning.
