NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara University men’s golf team closed with a final round 290 on Monday at the 17th annual Leo Keenan Invitational at Bartlett Country Club in Olean, N.Y., to place third out of 15 teams in the two-round tournament.
Entering the day in a tie for third, the Purple Eagles registered the third-best team score of the day and finished the tournament with a score of 585. St. Bonaventure won the Invitational in a playoff with Drexel on the 17th hole by two strokes after both teams finished 36 holes of play at 575.
Niagara senior Chris Agostinelli (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas) finished in a tie for fourth with five other golfers with a five-over par 145. Senior Andrew Burke (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) and sophomore Mike Jarvis (Athol Springs, N.Y./St. Francis) tied for 10th with scores of 146, six-over par. Junior Chris Hart (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) placed in a tie for 25th with a two-day total of 148. Junior Dan Misko (Grand Island, N.Y./St. Joseph’s) shot a 19-over par 159, and freshman Chris Singleton (Niagara Falls, Ont.) a 15-over par 155, to round out the Purple Eagle team.
Keith Snyder of Drexel claimed medalist honors with a two day total of 139, one-under par for the tournament.
The Purple Eagles will wrap up the fall portion of their season on Oct. 17-18 at The Tillinghast in Scarsdale, N.Y., at Fenway Golf Course.
