Niagara University Golf Tied for Third at Leo Keenan Invitational


Junior Chris Hart is two strokes back of the lead.

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – After the first round of the Leo Keenan Invitational in Olean, N.Y., on Sunday, the Niagara University golf team is tied for third out of 15 teams.

The Purple Eagles shot 295 at the Bartlett Country Club, thirteen strokes back of leader St. Bonaventure (282) and six strokes behind second-place Drexel (289).

On the par-70 course, four golfers are tied for the lead after day one. Keith Snyder (Drexel), Patrick Kelly (Long Island), Aaron Ungvarsky (Binghamton) and Brennan Payne (St. Bonaventure) all fired one-under par 69’s for shares of the lead.

Junior Chris Hart (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) fired a one-over par 71 and is in a tie for sixth place. Senior Chris Agostinelli (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas) is tied for 14th with a day-one score of 73, two strokes ahead of teammate Mike Jarvis’s (Athlos Springs, N.Y./St. Francis) 75. Senior Andrew Burke’s (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) 76 and junior Dan Misko’s (Grand Island, N.Y./St. Joseph’s) 77 round out Niagara’s top five.

The Purple Eagles will tee-off in the final round Monday with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
