CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Niagara University men's golf team finished eighth out of 24 teams in the Lafayette Invitational, at the Center Valley Golf Club, in Center Valley, Pa., Saturday, shooting a two-round total of 619. Sophomore Chris Agostinelli (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas) finished in a tie for 18th, shooting a 4-over 76 in the second round.
The Purple Eagles, shooting a second round score of 305, moved up five spots Saturday, previously finishing in a tie for 13th after the first round.
With Agostinelli, who shot a two-day total of 152, were senior Shaun Applegate (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore East), shooting a team-low 75, and freshman Chris Hart (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca), who shot 79 in round two. Also posting scores for Niagara were Jimmy Pizzutelli (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East), with a 3-over 75, and Brad Chapman (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles Central), who shot an 87.
Winning both the team and individual competition was Binghamton University. The Bearcats shot a two-day total of 586 to win the 24-team tournament, with Binghamton senior Keith Hendrickson shooting a 2-under 70 to win the individual competition.
Niagara returns to action April 18-19 to compete in the Duquesne Invitational. The event will be played at the Valley Brook Country Club, in McMurray, Pa.
