O'Donohue Named MAAC Scholar Athlete of the Year

Becky O'Donohue (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./Dobbs Ferry), a junior forward on the Niagara University women's basketball team, has been named the New York Lottery Women's Basketball Scholar Athlete of the Year. The award is given to the men's and women's varsity basketball player who had the highest GPA in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference from the State of New York, and demonstrates good sportsmanship. Carmen Maciariello of Siena won the men's award.

O'Donohue, a communications major, holds a 3.612 grade-point average. She has been named to the MAAC All-Academic Team in each of the past two seasons. O'Donohue averaged 7.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while starting 19 of 28 games this past season. She helped lead the Purple Eagles to a sixth-place finish in the MAAC and a 10-17 record on the year.

In honor of Carmen and Becky, two computers packages will be given to the elementary school that the student-athlete attended.
