Johnston is a four-year relief pitcher on Niagara's softball team. The senior co-captain appeared in seven of the team's 10 games this spring, posting the MAAC's 13th-best ERA (3.96) and going 2-1 in 17.2 innings pitched.
Johnston opened the season by throwing 5.0 innings in a 10-inning game against Valparaiso in the team's season opener on March 6, holding the Crusaders to just one hit, two walks, and two runs (both unearned) while striking out four.
She then earned decisions in each of her next two appearances: a save against Penn and a win against Detroit Mercy. In 3.0 combined innings against the Quakers and Titans, Johnston gave up three hits, collected four strikeouts, and held both offenses scoreless.
Academically, she has made the Dean's List three times, and will graduate this spring. Johnston plans to pursue a career as a physical therapist.
