DENVER, COLO. - Niagara University senior defenseman Shannon Moulson (Mississauga, Ont.) was named the top female performer of the 2008 NCAA Frozen Four Skills Competition on Friday. Moulson helped guide the West to a 13-6 victory over the Eastern squad.
NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara University women’s hockey team is receiving some national and international attention. Senior Shannon Moulson (Mississauga, Ont.) will participate in the NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge, while her freshman teammate Venla Heikkila (Tampere, Finland) plays for Finland in the 2008 IIHF World Women’s Championship.

VIERUMAKI, FINLAND - Niagara University women's hockey freshman Marie Linander Henriksen (Ballerup, Denmark) helped Team Denmark to a 3-2 win in the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Women's Championships in Vierumaki, Finland on Sunday. The defender/forward recorded three assists in the victory over Team Italy.

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y.- Niagara University women's hockey sophomore Mary McKinnon (Summerside, P.E.I.) was named to the 2008 College Hockey America All-Tournament Team after a strong performance against Mercyhurst in the semifinals.
NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara University women’s hockey team hung tough against No. 7 Mercyhurst, but eventually fell in defeat 4-2 in the semifinals of the College Hockey of America Tournament at Dwyer Arena on Friday night. The loss finishes Niagara’s season at 9-22-4.
Women’s Hockey Forward Mills Scores Niagara Athlete of the Week NIAGARA UN., N.Y. – Women’s hockey sophomore Melanie Mills (Flamborogh, Ont.) was named Niagara University Athlete of the Week for her efforts in Niagara’s first weekend sweep of the season. The forward scored three goals in the pair of victories over Robert Morris, doubling her goal total for the season.

Riggs Named Niagara Athlete of the Week NIAGARA UN., N.Y. – Women’s hockey sophomore Ashley Riggs (Pickering, Ont.) was named Niagara University Athlete of the Week for her efforts in the 2007 European Air Canada Cup. The sophomore forward was named Player of the Game in the Gold Medal Game and landed a spot on the All-Star Team, finishing the tournament with four goals and three assists.

Rutledge Named Niagara University Athlete of the Week NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – Junior goaltender Allison Rutledge (London, Ont.) was named Niagara University Athlete of the Week Monday after helping guide the Purple Eagle women’s hockey team to a second place finish in the College Hockey America Tournament, March 9-12, in Detroit, Mich.
