Volleyball Welcomes First Wave Of Purple Eagles For Next Season

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara University volleyball program welcomes two new members, Reva Blitz and Jessica Streuer, to the program announced by head coach Vilis Ozols

Blitz comes to Monteagle Ridge with a long list of accomplishments while playing the last four years at Chino Hills High School in Chino Hills, Calif. and playing club ball with Rancho Valley. In 2014, she was a part of an undefeated Baseline League championship team and a California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) quarterfinalists for the first of back-to-back seasons.
 
At the club level Reva has won both Gold and Silver at the Girls Junior National Championships. The 2015 season marked the first of three consecutive seasons in which she earned all-league honors and was a Pacific Northwest Qualifier gold medalist. She earned a wide range of accolades in her junior season, including SCVA Qualifier Gold Medalist, Girls Junior National Championship Bronze Medalist, Baseline League Champion and CIF Semifinalist. Blitz closed out her career winning the Gold Medal representing the United States at the 2017 Maccabi Games in Israel..
 
"Reva will be a key part of furthering our legacy of outstanding defense," Ozols said. "She has won a National Championship and numerous prestigious tournaments at the club level. She has competed and advanced at the highest level of California High School CIF volleyball and she has represented the United States in international competition winning a gold medal. She has very advanced platform and defensive reading skills.  It will be fun to watch Reva's career evolve."

Streuer has spent her high school career playing in two different parts of the United States. She played her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons at Esperanza High School in Anaheim, Calif. before finishing high school in Georgia at Jackson County Comprehensive High School in Jefferson, Ga. A second team all-league recipient in her sophomore and junior seasons, Streuer also was a selection for the Dave Mohs All-Tournament Team in 2016. Closing out her high school career on a high note, she was selected as the Region VIII-AAA All-Area Player of the Year this past season.
 
"Jessica will contribute immediately and comes to us with a great history both in high school and in club volleyball as a winner," Ozols said. "She is a proven setter and very adept at running an offense efficiently. She brings great quickness and defensive skills as well. She's succeeded both in her native California and as a senior now in Georgia. We are very excited for her to join the Purple Eagles family."
