FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Despite a strong fourth quarter comeback, the Purple Eagles women's basketball team was defeated by Fairfield, 66-63, on Sunday.

Game Recap
- The first quarter was a defensive battle between the Purple Eagles and the Stags. Niagara held Fairfield to only 11 points in the first quarter and, with the help of 10 points from Rampado, went into the second quarter leading 17-11.
- The Stags came back to tie things up, 17-17, early in the second quarter and took the lead with about five and a half minutes remaining in the quarter. The Purple Eagles came back, however, to regain their lead and led the Stags 31-29 going into halftime.
- Fairfield came back to tie up the score, 31-31, within the first 30 seconds of the third quarter.
- The Stags pulled away, but a three from Tiffany Corselli brought Niagara back within two points, 40-38, with a little over four and a half minutes remaining in the third quarter. However, the Stags went on a 9-0 run in the final two and a half minutes of the quarter and led the Purple Eagles 55-43 going into the fourth quarter.
- The Stags pulled ahead of the Purple Eagles 61-47 less than halfway through the fourth, but a three from Jamie Sherburne started Niagara on a 7-0 run, capped by a three from Rampado, that put NU within six points of the lead, 61-55, with almost five minutes left to play.
- Four points from Kaylee Stroemple brought the Purple Eagles within two points of the lead, 65-63, with just over one minute remaining in the game but the Stags held onto their narrow lead, and snuck by with a 66-63 win over Niagara to sweep the season series.
Inside the Numbers
- Rampado led the Purple Eagles in scoring with a season-high 26 points. She also had a team-high nine rebounds.
- Corselli was second in rebounding with six rebounds and Dagny Davidsdottir was second in scoring with eight points, tying her career-high.
- Sherburne led the team in assists with six to tie her season-high.
- Over the course of the game, the score was tied five times and the lead changed five times.
